Waste. The ways of solving problems

Nowadays the issue of waste if very acute. The environment is very affected by people and this problem has reached global proportions and requires urgent action. The most difficult thing is to get rid of garbage and waste in large Metropolitan are as where there are a lot of people and businesses. The problem of where to put the garbage, did not arise yesterday. In the ancient cities with garbage, it was just were thrown to the pavement, where it calmly accumulated until some significant event, for example, a military parade. The first known law forbidding this practice, appeared in 320 BC in Athens, and then similar experience rapidly spread throughout Ancient Greece and Greek cities-colonies. In Ancient Rome, the homeowners were obliged to clean the streets near their possessions. Garbage dumped in the open pit right outside the city walls. With a growing population of the city was in the ring trash heaps; then came the first primitive horse-drawn garbage trucks in transporting waste away from the city. Most of the countries of the world are struggling to deal with their waste problems. Poor management of waste has an impact on the public health of entire communities and cities; pollutes local water, air and land resources; contributes to climate change and ocean plastic pollution; aids climate change and hastens the depletion of forests and mines. Today's consumers offer a fairly extensive number of methods of disposal. Of course, all these methods work to reduce the amount of waste, but each method has both clear advantages and some significant drawbacks that do not allow you to use a particular method of waste disposal. One of the most important ways of solving the waste issue is social consciousness. The observance of certain "rules" can help to significantly reduce the production of waste and debris. Here are some of them: 1) Try not to use or minimize the use of disposable items: plastic bags, aluminum, glass and plastic cans and bottles, packages, containers, and utensils, lighters and the like. For example, instead of using disposable containers, use reusable ones. Instead of plastic utensils, for example, use paper plates and cups. Of course, for the manufacture of paper tableware, trees are cut down, but the decomposition of plastic takes about 200 years, and cardboard and paper decompose in 10 years. Bottled water is not a good puchase , and certainly does not benefit the environment. It is better to use distiller or reverse osmosis filter. You will be confident in the purity of the water, and won't pollute with plastic bottles, the decomposition of which requires hundreds of years. 2) Suppress the instinct of consumption. It makes no sense to chase after the latest fashion, and other things like that, if the previous purchased item can fully cope with its tasks. Many manufacturers intentionally reduce the service life of the devices._The business is directly interested in the fact that we consume more and more products. Of course, one need not completely abandon, but to approach each buying more consciously. You must also try to give preference to things which provide a long service life. A symptom of this could be a long warranty period or service, and the availability of spare parts on sale at reasonable prices. 3) Almost all books, Newspapers and magazines have an electronic version ・use this. If we have access to the Internet, we will be on the right track to abandon the printed product, thereby preserving forests. Even such things as paying bills, can help take care of mother nature. Because instead of spending paper on the bill, we can make payments online. Simple and efficient! 4) Give preference to companies and brands that care about the environment and do not pollute the planet. It's nice to reward a business that thinks about environmentally friendly production and disposal of their waste in advance. For example, there are concepts such as cleaner production or "Zero Waste", which means "production without damages". Companies adhering to such principles, do not produce waste, which they could not take care of. This truly contributes to the preservation of the purity on our planet. 5) Let's give a second life to old things in working condition. Most of the things (furniture, clothes, shoes, toys, books, etc.) can be given to those who really need it. For example, social services care, children's homes, charities will welcome your help. Charity work is nice, besides you extend the life of things and will protect them from premature contact with the landfill. Ask friends and acquaintances if they can give you what they do not need anymore. You can also share the items that you do not require anymore with them. it is nice to get something in working condition for free. In this way, you will not cause harm to the environment. Of course, this list of "rules" and recommendations is not exhaustive. But it is effective only when we realize the seriousness of the problem. As they say, "In order to change the wolrd, you must change yourself first."
