The language that unites us

In addition to the well-known way of communication — speech, there is another one that tells us much more about people. It is the language of gestures. Nonverbal communication makes up 80% of our communications. Gestures and facial expressions are my best "friends" at the moment, because those are understood by everyone. December has been incredibly generous to me. A lot of people which I met did not know English and I did not know Romanian well enough. But I knew a few Romanian phrases, I smiled, I was lucky, and that allowed me to visit several beautiful cities of Romania. Most of our fellow passengers spoke different languages, but that did not stop us from getting to know each other better. Key communicative gestures, and facial expressions of people in various countries are not too different. Someone who is happy and satisfied will smile, someone who is sad will frown and a person in a fit of rage has his own distinctive facial expression. A very clear example a universally accepted gesture is the shrug. Everyone knows that a shrug indicates a lack of understanding. Sometimes the fear of not knowing a language deprives you of many opportunities. But if you trust your intuition, you can discover that the world is full of very open-minded and friendly people who can speak to you in one language - the language of gestures and facial expressions!
